True North - the name has grown on us. We are the 4th owners, and she has always been named True North. We originally thought about renaming her - we're not too concerned with renaming a boat. There are methods/rituals to avoid the bad luck if you are superstitious. But, like I said, True North has grown on us. While her name will stay the same... being architects we can't help but revise the logo to make it feel like ours.

We narrowed down the many early morning sketches and started to settle on a direction with some napkin sketches at the local brewery.  With elements of an architectural north arrow and Polynesian-ish graphics of mountains and waves, the new logo started to come together.  One challenge is incorporating the horizontal rub-rail on the boat.  Previous logos were above and/or below the rub-rail, which limited the size of the logo, or required it to be separated into the name / logo above and below the rail.  Our logo design divides the logo in half and uses the horizontal line to play off the east & west compass directions.

Logo evolution getting it into pdf form.

Final logo - plus a color version... Thanks to our daughter Liz for the awesome graphic design work!

Testing out the logo size with some printed 30" and 36" test plots.  The larger logo fit great on the boat and got our vote. Works great with the rub-rail!

OK, so maybe we went overboard with the new logos, but now we have patches, stickers, Yeti cups, (t-shirts, etc. not shown!).

Here's a reject logo for entertainment purposes only...
